Zussino Ties Team Record as Stallions Stay Perfect on the Season

The Huronia Stallions Varsity Football team won their home opener 55-7 over the Peterborough Wolverines.  The win has the Stallions in sole possession of first place in the OFC North Division with a 4-0 record.  Quarterback Adam Zussino had an outstanding game completing 15 passes on 20 attempts for 330 yards.  He also tied Kyle Graves’ team record with 6 passing touchdowns. 

The highlight was on the opening drive where he connected with Wide Receiver Dan Vandervoort for a 94 yard touchdown.  Vandervoort had 4 receptions for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Jesse Alves also had an outstanding game with 6 catches for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns.   Dylan Beck and John Shields hauled in the other scores.  Kicker Adam Drysdale converted 2 of 3 field goal attempts to round out the offensive scoring.  Defensively, the Stallions were able to stop Peterborough on multiple drives where they threatened into Huronia territory.  Safety Brandon Johnston led the defence with 10 solo tackles and an interception.  Linebacker Tyler Dekkers recovered a fumble and scampered into the endzone for a 45 yard score.  John Stylianou and Austin Buck also had interceptions.  Mack Holiday had another outstanding game with 4 solo tackles, 3 assists, a sack and a forced fumble.  Matt Telford added two quarterback sacks to round out the defensive highlights.  The Stallions next game is against a very strong team from North Halton this Saturday at 6:30 PM at the Barrie Sports Complex in Midhurst.  

The Huronia Stallions Junior Varsity team lost 23-2 to their division rivals from Peterborough.  The loss dropped to Stallions to 3-1 on the season.  The Stallions struggled to execute offensively throughout the entire game which eventually wore down their defence.  Linebacker Tyler Richards and Defensive Backs Nathan Robinson and Jacob Tanguay all had interceptions.  Jack Schneider led the defence with several tackles including 3 tackles for loss.  The Stallions next game is this Saturday at 2 PM against North Halton at the Barrie Sports Complex in Midhurst.

The Huronia Stallions Bantam team fell to 1-2 on the season with a tough 40-15 loss to a strong team from North Halton.  The game was close early on with no score after the first quarter.  The Stallions then fell down 20-0 before explosive rookie Rhys Rugby broke two long touchdown runs to bring the game to 20-15.  Breakdowns on Special Teams then broke the game open as North Halton cruised to the victory.  Defensive End Lucien Pilon once again led the defence with 5 tackles for loss.  Peyton Wagner also had a strong game on defence with multiple tackles and big hits.  Elijah Kent and Mitch Stadnyk both had interceptions to round out the highlights.  The Stallions will look to even their record at 2-2 this Sunday at 1 PM against Twin Cities at the Barrie Sports Complex.
