4-0 Huronia Stallions Gear Up for Tough Road Matchup v. Cornwall

June-20-19

Varsity

The Huronia Stallions Varsity team improved to 4-0 on the season with a hard-fought 8-6 victory over the previously unbeaten Etobicoke Eagles. Etobicoke’s six points were all on conceded safeties and attests to the dominating performance by the Stallions defence. Key plays on defence were made by Jordan Travis and Josh Flindall who both had interceptions and Clayton Mrazek who had a quarterback sack. Linebackers Owen Macleod and Andy Shrubsole were the leading tacklers on defence and made several key plays to break up passes and stop the run. Nate Willems continues to impress with his hard-hitting play on both defence and special teams. The Stallions lone touchdown was on a gadget play where receiver Will McCulloch connected with Christian Maciag for a touchdown pass. The Stallions have a long road trip this Saturday against the 2-1-1 Cornwall Wildcats. Cornwall is coming off an impressive 39-0 victory over Quinte and earned a 3-3 tie earlier in the season with the defending champion Oshawa Hawkeyes.

Junior Varsity

The Huronia Stallions Junior Varsity team fell to 1-3 on the season with a 30-9 loss to the Etobicoke Eagles. The young Stallions JV team held tough against a very talented opponent but did not get enough stops on defence or have the offensive firepower to get the victory. Running back Owen Clarke scored the lone Stallions touchdown to lead the offence. Linebacker Scott Laybolt and defensive tackle Ethan McKillican were the top Stallion defenders. Defensive Halfback Aaron Lavers added a first half interception to round out the highlights. The Stallions are on the road this weekend where they will take on the 1-3 Brampton Bulldogs in a game with major playoff implications.

Bantam

The Huronia Stallions Bantam team is now 0-5 on the season after a 28-14 loss to Etobicoke and 44-6 loss to Brampton the past two weeks. The Stallions are on the road this Sunday with a rematch against Brampton
