On Sunday, a battle between the unbeaten Huronia Stallions and Toronto Junior Argos took place in OFC Football action. The Argos stopped the Stallions on a key third down at midfield and drove down the field and scored to take an early 7-0 lead. After that it was all Stallions as they worked for a 41-7 victory to improve to 3-0 on the season. Tailback John Shields led the offence with 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Dan Vandervoort had an outstanding game with 2 touchdown receptions. Dylan Beck also had a touchdown reception. Quarterback Adam Zussino continued his dynamic play with 3 passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown. The Stallions Offensive Line was the key to the offence’s success as they dominated a very big Toronto D Line. Jay Van Dam had a great game on Special Teams and played well on defence forcing a fumble. Hayden Hughes and Brandon Johnston were the top defenders in the victory. The Stallions next game is this Saturday at 6:30 PM against Peterborough at the Barrie Sports Complex.
The Huronia Stallions Junior Varsity Football team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 29-9 victory over the Toronto Junior Argos. Quarterback Christian DiSabatino led the offence with two touchdown passes to Nick Stadnyk and Devin McGuirk. Tailback Matt Howe rushed for yet another 100 yard game and punched in a rushing touchdown. Remington Hill rushed for the other score. Billy Wade was the top Special Teams player with several key tackles. The Stallions next game is this Saturday at 2 PM against Peterborough at the Barrie Sports Complex.
The Huronia Stallions Bantam Football team lost 37-6 to Chatham-Kent. Rhys Rusby had a 100 yard punt return touchdown called back on penalties and scored the lone Stallions touchdown. The Stallions were undone by multiple turnovers. The top defensive player was Luc Pilon and Elijah Kent played well with an interception. The Stallions next game is Sunday at 1 PM against North Halton at the Barrie Sports Complex.
